How Business Messenger works:
Business Messenger is an easy to deploy application that is installed on the company's client computers (Windows XP, Vista or 7). Predefined or user defined subscriptions access various data sources (so called message providers), e.g. RSS feeds, SharePoint lists, E-Mail, Twitter feeds, business and sensor data or messages sent by instant messaging servers (XMPP/Jabber). The retrieved information is then processed by Business Messenger and displayed in an appropriate way, e.g. on a Desktop news ticker, as pop up, full screen pop up or toast notification.
It is possible to pre-configure the application and to restrict the possible configuration options for the individual users. This allows creating an enterprise communication solution that always fits perfectly!

Information Distribution from SharePoint / Intranet to Employees
Any Intranet platform such as Microsoft SharePoint that is capable of exposing information via RSS feeds can be used to distribute relevant information directly to employees, e.g. on a scrolling ticker tape on the Windows desktop. This can help to reduce the amount of e-mail sent out every day to the workers. Due to the flexible architecture this functionality can be used both by in-house worker and field force staff! Optionally, a second tape on the ticker bar can be made available for personal RSS news feeds in order to increase the acceptance of the whole enterprise communications strategy!
Real Time Notification of Employees with Group Management
If you need a tool to inform specific employees or entire groups at real-time including feedback information if the notification has been received and read, use the powerful XMPP/Jabber instant notification feature of Business Messenger. Backed by a free XMPP server such as Ignite Realtime Openfire that also supports full Active Directory integration, you can reach everyone, everywhere. By using one of the many different forms of notification visualization (views) that Business Messenger has to offer, you can even influence if the notification interrupts the workflow of the recipient (e.g. a full screen pop up window) or if the notification is displayed in a unobtrusive way (e.g. a toast notification window).
Automatic E-Mail Checking
Business Messenger can check as many IMAP e-mail accounts as you want for new, incoming e-mail automatically in the background. When new messages arrive you get directly informed in a predefined way. Use advanced features such as keyword filters to get only notified if a new message comes in that matches your filter criteria.
Social Media and Web Monitoring (for SEO)
Use Business Messenger to monitor either social media sources such as Twitter accounts, Twitter searches or Web searches (Google, Bing, etc.) to get informed automatically when something appears on the Web that is worth to catch your attention. This makes Business Messenger a perfect tool for marketers and search engine optimization specialists.

RSS / Atom / SharePoint Feed
Any RSS or Atom feed (Internet or Intranet) can be used as data source. Because Microsoft SharePoint is able to publish almost any kind of information as RSS feed, it is very easy to link Business Messenger with SharePoint or other Intranet software that have built-in RSS output capabilities!
Instant Messaging (XMPP / Jabber)
Business Messenger can be used as client application for instant messaging systems. The widely used XMPP / Jabber protocol which is also used by major instant messaging applications such as ICQ, MSN Messenger, etc. is compatible with Business Messenger. You can use free XMPP Servers like Ignite Realtime Openfire to precisely send notifications to single employees or groups of employees. It is even possible to integrate an existing Active Directory!
E-Mail (IMAP)
Any IMAP compatible e-mail account can automatically be checked for new incoming mails. Because Business Messenger only accesses e-mail accounts in read-only mode, there is no risk of interference with existing e-mail clients.
Twitter / Social Media
Any Twitter account can be accessed with Business Messenger. This is especially helpful when it comes to monitoring social media. A built in keyword filter and an automated Twitter search functionality create an immediate notification when tweets that contain relevant information are posted anywhere in the world!
Web Search (Google, Bing, etc.)
The Web search message provider allows specifying a Web search term or search expression which is then monitored automatically over time! Whenever new results appear in the SERP (search engine result page), a notification is generated. This message provider is perfect for monitoring specific keywords or for SEO consultants that need to monitor the search engine position of certain Web pages.
Any SQL Database
Apart from RSS, XMPP and IMAP data sources, any SQL-driven database can be made available as information source for Business Messenger. The third party tool DataNAUT UC by ACCURATA provides this functionality.

Desktop News Ticker
The news ticker view displays incoming messages/notifications, e.g. from RSS news feeds as a scrolling ticker bar on the Windows desktop. Due to the high flexibility of this view, it can easily be customized, regarding colors, fonts, size, etc. The ticker can either be shown on the top or the bottom of the screen and supports both auto-hide and "stick to desktop" functionality.
Toast Notification
Toast notifications represent a very unobtrusive but though effective way to notify users. A small bar appears on the top of the screen that is not higher than the size of the title bar of a norml application window. Therefore it does not interrupt the user's workflow but is still very well noticeable! This is a perfect choice for status update notifications.
Popup Notification
The classical popup window directly notifies the user on the screen. Due to its size it catches the user's attention but does not require the user to immediately react to the notification. This view is perfect for notifications and messages with medium to high importance.
Full Screen Notification
The full screen notification window disables the whole screen and interrupts the current workflow of the user immediately. This very intrusive way of notifying a user is ideal for very important events that directly require the user to interact, e.g. alerts or very important warning messages.
