Architecture
The FrontFace digital signage and kiosk software essentially consists of two components:
- FrontFace Player App
The FrontFace Player App controls the screen(s) and ensures that the configured content is displayed. Typically, the FrontFace Player App runs autonomously after setup and requires no further intervention on the device itself. The FrontFace Player App is available for various operating systems: Windows, Android, and Linux. - FrontFace Assistant (CMS)
The FrontFace Assistant is a Windows desktop application used for managing players, content, and display control (the so-called “project”). It is also used to distribute content to the FrontFace Player App. The FrontFace Assistant only needs to be running when changes to the player settings or the content to be displayed are to be made.
The process of transferring control information and content from the FrontFace Assistant to the FrontFace Player App is called “Publishing”. Whenever changes to the project are made, it is required to publish to the player(s).
