How can the log / protocol files of FrontFace products be viewed?

Both, the Player Application of FrontFace for Public Displays as well as the Kiosk Application of FrontFace for Touch Kiosks write any error messages, warnings and also optional diagnosis information into a log file.

In case of technical problems or errors, it is helpful to have a look into the log file in order to able to better identify the source/cause of the problem.

  • The log file of FrontFace for Public Displays (on the player PC) is located here:
    "C:\ProgramData\mirabyte\FrontFace for Public Displays\FrontFace.log.txt"

  • The log file of FrontFace for Touch Kiosks (on the kiosk PC) is located here:
    "C:\ProgramData\mirabyte\FrontFace for Touch Kiosks\log.txt"

By default, the log files only contain information about errors or warnings. But it is also possible to extend the verbosity of the log output. Please see the PDF manual of FrontFace for Public Displays / FrontFace for Touch Kiosks for details on that.

Alternatively, you can launch the FrontFace Lockdown Tool from the Windows start menu (if installed) and access the log files directly from within the “System Information” menu section. This section also gives you access to the “Event Log” of Windows which contains helpful diagnosis information in case of severe errors or application crashes. The Windows Event Log can also be accessed outside the FrontFace Lockdown Tool by pressing WINDOWS+R and entering "eventvwr.msc /c:Application".
