LAV Filters Codec Pack Installation (for Video Playback)
Best video playback performance and support for a large set of video formats can be achieved by installing and using the LAV Filters Codec Pack.
- First, download and install the LAV Filters on your system(s).
- Start the “LAV Video Configuration” app from the Windows Start Menu and select an appropriate option for “Hardware Decoder to use”. In most cases “DXVA2 (native)” is the best choice. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, please select “NVIDIA CUVID”.
- In case you are using FrontFace for Public Displays, you also have to explicitly select “DirectShow” as “Video Renderer” instead of “Standard” in the video settings dialog for every (!) video that you add to your playlist. If you keep the selection on “Standard”, the Windows Media Player (Media Foundation) will be used to render the videos and the LAV Filters will not be used.
