How to change the UI language of the Display / Kiosk Assistant application?

By default, the user interface (UI) language of the Display Assistant / Kiosk Assistant is the same as the language of the underlaying Windows installation. If the Windows language is set to "German", the Assistant will show a user interface in German language. On all other systems, an English user interface is shown.

In some cases, it may be desirable to force the Assistant to use a specific language (e.g. German language on a Windows PC with an English version of Windows or vice versa).

You can set UI language by editing the file "FrontFace Display Assistant.exe.config" (for "FrontFace for Public Displays"):

<applicationSettings>
   <mirabyte.FrontFace.DisplayAssistant.Properties.Settings>
      <setting name="UICulture" serializeAs="String">
         <value>de-DE</value>
      </setting>

Or edit the file "FrontFace Kiosk Assistant.exe.config" (for "FrontFace for Touch Kiosks").

<applicationSettings>
   <mirabyte.FrontFace.TK.Configurator.Properties.Settings>
      <setting name="UICulture" serializeAs="String">
         <value>de-DE</value>
      </setting>

Add the bold printed tags to the file at the position as shown above if these are not already present and change the value to "de-DE" for German or "en-US" for English.

After you have saved the file (admin rights may be required!) and restarted the Assistant, the user interface will appear in the language you have selected instead of the OS default language.
